Help with word :(

I'm trying to redo my layout for an ebook and for some reason my word file, for reasons best known to itself, has decided to put a grey line at the bottom of each page. It's not a footer (I tried going to the footer menu and deleting it, but that didn't work.) I have no idea how to get rid of it or how it got there in the first place.

Opening a new word file is fine, no grey lines appear. I tried copying and pasting the whole file into a new word file, but yes, you guessed it, the grey lines appeared again!

Does anyone know how I can remove them? Or even what they are?

There's probably some simple explanation that I'm missing somewhere, LOL!

thanks,
Annette

I don't which version of Word you're using, hon, but I know that if you're looking at the page in "Print Layout" view, you'll get that grey line. If you look at it in another view, it disappears. Don't know if that helps.

Thanks for your message; I didn't have any footnotes, apparently it was some sort of border, so I got rid of all borders and that seemed to work :)

try changing views. That's the simplest explanation. You most likely have it on Normal View, and that shows all the page breaks etc. You probably want to have it on print view instead
